"Even in The Future The Story Begins with Once Upon A Time"

“We all have our weaknesses.” “I know,” said Iko.
 “Mine is shoes.”

This shoe is just WOW. This shoe is just attracts people, even to read the synopsis. Loved this cover!

At first I didn't really want to read this book. I've read many modern fairy tales books and I hated every one of them. That is why this is unbelievable (even for me) that I chose exactly that kind of book as my first post for my very first and new blog. Considering my username, you would think that I just love fairy tales. Not really, my friends gave this name ( long story). Anyway.....Thanks a lot Sydney, one of my Goodreads friends from Teen Library, for picking me this amazing book. Here it goes!! ( I'm so excited!!)

 (which clearly shows)

Let's start with the main character Cinder who is a cyborg. She is exactly my kind of favorite heroine. First of all, she is a mechanic and that is really cool......

“Clearing his throat, Kai murmured, "You have no idea how to dance, do you?"

Cinder fixed her gaze on him, mind still reeling. "I'm a mechanic."

His eyebrows raised mockingly. "Believe me, I noticed. Are those grease stains on the gloves I gave you?”

She is not desperate. She doesn't swoon over Prince Kai and of course she is not over romantic.

She also has a sense of humor.......

“I don't know. I don't actually remember anything from before the surgery."

His eyebrows rose, his blue eyes sucking in all the light of the room. "The cybernetic     opetation?"

 "No, the sex change."

The doctor's smile faltered.

  "I'm joking.”

 Cinder has guts.....

“Before she knew what she was doing, she was storming after Kai. She grabbed his elbow and spun him back around to face her. Without hesitating, Cinder  wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.”

I mean who wouldn't love this kind of character. I certainly do.

“I'm sure I'll feel much more grateful when I find a guy who thinks complex wiring in a girl is a turn-on.”

    Now comes Prince Kai!

His character is not that strong but very likable. You can't help but to like him even a little.

“Kai cleared his throat. Stood straighter. "I assume you are going to the ball?"

"I-I don't know. I mean, no. No, I'm sorry, I'm not going to the ball."

Kai drew back, confused. "Oh well... but... maybe you would change your mind? Because I am, you know."

"The prince."

"Not bragging," he said quickly. "Just a fact.”

To some characters he is HOT.

“Cinder twisted up her lips. "Do you think it could have a virus?"

"Maybe her programming was overwhelmed by Prince Kai's uncanny hotness.”
( This quote is just for my favorite character Iko)

He was the fantasy of every girl in the country. He was so far out of realm, her world, that she should have stopped thinking about him the second the door had closed. Should stop thinking about him immediately. Should never think about him again, except maybe as a client - and her prince.

And yet, the memory of his fingers against her skin refused to fade.”

(This is for Cinder's sake. I mean we have to give him some credit. Right? After all he IS a prince)

Sarcasm.....oh I love a hero I mean prince with sarcasm.

“Right,' said Kai, 'that'll be no problem in a city of two and a half million people. Let me just go dig out my special Lunar detector, and I'll get right on that.”

"Instead of looking like a royal heartthrob, he just looked crazy.”

Right Cinder.......just crazzyyyyy

And now my favorite character Iko!!

“Prince Kai! Check my fan, I think I'm overheating.”

“Oh, my stars! Think about Prince Kai! You could dance with Prince Kai!”

This made Cinder pause and squint into Iko’s blinding light. “Why would the prince dance with me?”
Iko’s fan hummed as she sought an answer. “Because you won’t have grease on your face this time.”

This three are my favorite ones from the book. The main reason I loved this book was the fact that the characters.....well like, Cinder is not like the fairy tales Cinderella. She is strong and realistic.

“She was a cyborg, and she would never go to a ball.”

Even Adri and the Lunar Queen. It's not that I like the characters but the fact that their character is written in a way that you can't help but hate them.

This book is a cliffhanger and I hate hate cliffhangers.

“Soon, the whole world would be searching for her -Linh Cinder.

A deformed cyborg with a missing foot.

A Lunar with a stolen identity.

A mechanic with no one to run to, nowhere to go.
But they will be looking for a ghost.”

Overall the writing and the concept of the book was good and satisfactory. This book is best of all modern Cinderella based books I've read. The reason I gave it one less star is the beginning. The starting was not great enough....kinda boring. I even gave up reading, but the whole point of reading this book at the first place was because of a challenge. So I started... Again reading thinking that this book was like every other book that I hated. But it surprised me. At some point, it kind of intrigued me also.

Well.....that's all for today.

Looking forward to read the next book in this series which is Scarlet.

Hope that you liked this review!!
